...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Multiple rounds of heavy rain with an increasing potential for flooding. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, and northeast Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Dickinson. In east central Kansas, Geary, Morris, Shawnee and Wabaunsee. In north central Kansas, Clay, Cloud, Ottawa, Republic and Washington. In northeast Kansas, Brown, Jackson, Jefferson, Marshall, Nemaha, Pottawatomie and Riley. * WHEN...Through Thursday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A slow-moving, moisture-laden system is expected to bring an additional 1.5 to 3 inches of rain with locally higher amounts around 4 inches. This on top of already saturated ground for locations that saw the heaviest rain last night would see an increased risk for flooding. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. &&

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Northwestern Nemaha County in northeastern Kansas... * WHEN...Until 900 PM CDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 105 PM CDT, emergency management reported the Nemaha River was out of its banks at Highway 71 near Bern. Minor flooding is ongoing in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... Sabetha, Seneca, Centralia, Bern, Oneida and Baileyville. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. &&
