...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CDT TODAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, and
northeast Kansas, including the following counties, in central
Kansas, Dickinson. In east central Kansas, Geary, Morris and
Wabaunsee. In north central Kansas, Clay and Ottawa. In northeast
Kansas, Pottawatomie and Riley.

* WHEN...Until noon CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 621 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the warned area. Between 2.5 and 6 inches of rain
have fallen.
- This Flood Warning will replace the ongoing Flash Flood
Warnings.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Manhattan, Junction City, Abilene, Wamego, Herington,
Minneapolis, Alma, St. Marys, Ogden, Grandview Plaza,
Chapman, Solomon, Wakefield, Riley, Enterprise, Bennington,
St. George, Maple Hill, White City and Milford.
- This includes Interstate 70 between mile markers 267 and 342.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL LATE THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring.

* WHERE...Wildcat Creek at Manhattan Scenic Drive.

* WHEN...Until late this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Flood waters reach Poliska Lane, just
north of Fort Riley Boulevard.
At 16.0 feet, Flood waters begin to reach North 1200 Road,
commonly known as Wildcat Creek Road, just upstream of the Scenic
Drive bridge.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 4:15 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 14.8 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 2.7 feet early
Friday morning.
- Flood stage is 14.0 feet.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 PM CDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 107 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, and
northeast Kansas.

* WHEN...From noon today to 9 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
