...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM CDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of Central, South Central, and Southeast Kansas,
including the following counties, in Central Kansas, Chase and
Marion. In South Central Kansas, Butler and Sedgwick. In Southeast
Kansas, Allen, Greenwood and Woodson.

* WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain
closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess
runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 857 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area.
Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wichita, Derby, El Dorado, Andover, Haysville, Augusta, Park
City, Valley Center, Bel Aire, Iola, Goddard, Rose Hill,
Maize, Eureka, Humboldt, Douglass, Towanda, Yates Center,
Colwich and Peabody.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL FRIDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Neosho River near Chanute.

* WHEN...Until Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 28.5 feet, Flood waters may flow across old Highway
169 north of Chanute. Agricultural flooding will also occur.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 2:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 23.6 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 27.2
feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below
flood stage tomorrow evening.
- Flood stage is 23.0 feet.

* IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, Flood waters cover West Bruner Street by
Riverside Park.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 3:00 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 16.8 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.0
feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage
tomorrow morning.
- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
