...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of east central Kansas, including the following
county, Miami and west central Missouri, including the following
county, Cass.

* WHEN...Until 1100 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 753 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This is causing urban and small stream
flooding. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. In
Miami County three to four inches of water were over portions
of Indianapolis Road and Flint Hill Crossing...north of John
Brown Highway.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Kansas City, Lee's Summit, Grandview, Belton, Raymore,
Harrisonville, Pleasant Hill, Paola, Spring Hill, Greenwood,
Peculiar, Osawatomie, Louisburg, Garden City, Archie, Lake
Winnebago, Drexel, Cleveland, Freeman and East Lynne.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of Kansas and Missouri, including the following
areas, in Kansas, Atchison KS, Doniphan, Johnson KS,
Leavenworth, Linn KS, Miami, and Wyandotte. In Missouri,
Bates, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Cass, Chariton, Clay,
Clinton, Cooper, Henry, Howard, Jackson, Johnson MO,
Lafayette, Livingston, Pettis, Platte, Randolph, Ray, and
Saline.

* Through Sunday afternoon

* WHEN...Through Sunday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone
locations. Area creeks and streams are running high and could
flood with more heavy rain.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
