...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM CDT EARLY THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following
counties, Butler, Sedgwick and Sumner.

* WHEN...Until 500 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 108 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding in typical locations is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly in the warned area.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in
the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wichita, Derby, Andover, Haysville, Park City, Valley Center,
Bel Aire, Mulvane, Goddard, Rose Hill, Maize, Clearwater,
Colwich, Downtown Wichita, Kechi, Eastborough, South Wichita,
Mcconnell Air Force Base, East Wichita and Eisenhower
National Airport.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
