...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Street flooding, county road flooding, and small stream
flooding caused by last night's heavy rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following
counties, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and
Sumner.

* WHEN...Until 900 PM CDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 225 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicate between 3 and 6 inches of rain occurred last night
across the warned area. This is causing flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, city streets, and other low-lying and flood-
prone locations.
- Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Derby, Arkansas City, Winfield, Haysville, Wellington,
Mulvane, Rose Hill, Kingman, Clearwater, Cheney, Douglass,
Belle Plaine, Harper, Conway Springs, Oxford, Garden Plain,
Udall, Pretty Prairie and Burden.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL TUESDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Ninnescah River near Peck.

* WHEN...Until Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 21.0 feet, The north approach of the river bridge is
flooded. Flood waters begin to spread to a width of 1 mile along
the north bank.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 2:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 16.4 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
this afternoon to a crest of 21.5 feet this evening. It will
then fall below flood stage tomorrow evening.
- Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
