...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST MONDAY... * WHAT...Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches, with locally higher amounts possible mainly east of State Road 49 and north of US Route 30. Some blowing and drifting snow is possible Sunday night into Monday. * WHERE...Porter County. * WHEN...Until noon CST Monday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. The hazardous conditions are expected to impact the Monday morning commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A brief lull in snowfall may occur Sunday morning before another round of lake effect snow develops Sunday afternoon and evening through Monday morning. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for Indiana can be obtained at https://511in.org. During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. For the Gale Warning, northwest winds to 35 kt and significant waves to 14 ft occasionally to 18 ft expected. * WHERE...Gary to Michigan City IN. * WHEN...For the Small Craft Advisory, until 6 PM CST this evening. For the Gale Warning, from 6 PM this evening to 3 PM CST Monday. * IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
