AFTERNOON FOR JASPER, SOUTHERN LAKE IN, NORTHERN NEWTON AND SOUTHERN
PORTER COUNTIES...

At 1103 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing rainfall rates up to 3 inches per hour. A
rain gauge near Roselawn recently reported 2.9 inches in just under 1
hour.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches,
streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and other poor
drainage areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Cedar Lake, Lowell, DeMotte, Hebron, Wheatfield, Lake Village,
Roselawn, Kouts, Lake Dalecarlia, Shelby, Hanging Grove, Schneider,
Stoutsburg, Fair Oaks, Thayer, Parr, Boone Grove, Sumava Resorts
and Baileys Corner.

- At 1016 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms with rainfall rates of 1 to 2
inches per hour moving into an area with high soil moisture due
to recent rainfall. Minor flooding may begin shortly after the
onset of rainfall.

Hammond, Gary, Portage, Merrillville, Valparaiso, East Chicago,
Schererville, Hobart, Crown Point, Highland, Munster, Chesterton,
