Portions of northwestern Indiana, including Lake, Porter, Newton, Jasper, and Benton counties. * WHEN...From 10 PM CDT /11 PM EDT/ this evening through Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Widespread flooding of low-lying including ditches and farm fields may occur. Widespread roadway flooding may occur. Area creeks and rivers may rapidly rise out of their banks. Some structures may flood. Some of the flooding may significant and locally life threatening. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Repeated rounds of torrential rainfall producing thunderstorms in the past week have lead to widespread saturated soils and standing water in low-lying areas. ...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON TO SUNDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Kankakee River from Near I-65 and De Motte downstream to IL/IN state line, including the Shelby gauge. * WHEN...From this afternoon to Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...At 10.5 feet, Water overflows low-lying river banks along Bluegrass Road east of Sumava Resorts and along Westwood Drive and Island Boulevard near Shelby. Water begins to be diverted through the Blackberry Marsh Spillway to reduce flood impacts. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:45 AM CDT Friday the stage was 10.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon.
