...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 9 AM CST THURSDAY... * WHAT...Hazardous travel due to wind blown lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations locally 2 to 5 inches expected, especially for northeast Porter County. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph near Lake Michigan. * WHERE...Porter County. * WHEN...From 8 AM this morning to 9 AM CST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Blowing and drifting snow may exacerbate the impacts, particularly on west to east roadways in open areas. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions. &&
