...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Dangerous travel conditions due to intense lake effect snow possible. Localized snow rates in excess of 2 inches per hour, event snow totals in excess of 6 inches, and northerly wind gusts in excess of 35 mph are possible. * WHERE...Lake IN and Porter Counties. * WHEN...From late Sunday night through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Untreated roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, may become slick and hazardous. The combination of snow rates in excess of 2 inches per hour and northerly wind gusts in excess of 35 mph may greatly reduce visibility, especially along the Lake Michigan shoreline. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow is often very localized, with conditions varying from safe to dangerous across just a few miles. The worst conditions are expected late Sunday night through Monday morning, affecting the Monday morning commute. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly.
