Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1122 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in localized flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Chicago, Hammond, Gary, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Calumet City, Portage, Merrillville, Chicago Heights, Roseland, South Shore, Englewood, Chicago Lawn, Bridgeport, Midway Airport, South Lawndale, Chicago Loop, East Chicago and Schererville. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Area creeks and streams are already elevated, increasing the risk of flooding due to additional rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Recent rounds of heavy rainfall have left soils saturated and stream and creek levels elevated across the area.
