...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CDT TODAY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected to continue. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Illinois, including Cook and DuPage counties * WHEN...Until noon CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Slow moving or standing water may continue. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1244 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rainfall had moved out of the area. Up to 2.5 inches of rain have fallen due to earlier storms. Although no additional heavy rainfall is expected during the next several hours, multiple streams continue to rise to near flood stage. Standing water in some areas may be slow to recede. - Some locations that may continue to experience flooding include... Chicago, Naperville, Cicero, Arlington Heights, Evanston, Schaumburg, Skokie, Des Plaines, Berwyn, Mount Prospect, Wheaton, Oak Park, Downers Grove, Glenview, Elmhurst, Lombard, Ohare Airport, Carol Stream, Park Ridge and Addison. - This includes the following rivers and streams... The East Branch DuPage River near Lombard, Morton Arboretum, and Lisle. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. High water may recede slowly from flooded areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1235 AM CDT, doppler radar indicated that heavy rainfall had moved out of the area. While the threat for heavy rainfall has ended, 1 to locally 5 inches of rain fell from earlier thunderstorms. Numerous creeks and streams are rising towards flood stage, and water levels will likely remain elevated well into Saturday morning. Standing water will continue to impact underpasses, low spots, and other poor drainage areas. - A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for areas that received the heaviest rainfall where multiple creeks continue to climb rapidly, including the Midlothian, Homewood, and Thornton areas. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... However, doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicate 2 to 5 inches of rain fell in the warned area due to earlier thunderstorms, with the highest amounts near Homewood. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding continues in the warned area with several creeks and streams rising rapidly towards and above flood stage. HAZARD...Significant flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Rapid-onset, significant flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches, low-lying areas, and poor drainage areas. Widespread street and underpass flooding. Possible flooding of structures. Possible flooding of highways. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
