...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected over portions of the advisory. * WHERE...Southeastern Livingston County in central Illinois... Ford County in east central Illinois... * WHEN...Until 1145 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 848 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen near Fairbury, IL. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Paxton, Fairbury, Gibson City, Chatsworth, Forrest, Piper City, Melvin, Roberts, Elliott, Sibley, Strawn and Clarence. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM CDT /2 AM EDT/ THURSDAY... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following counties, Ford, Iroquois and Livingston and northwest Indiana, including the following counties, Benton, Jasper and Newton. * WHEN...Until 1 AM CDT /2 AM EDT/ Thursday. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and evening. Storms will be capable of producing very heavy downpours with some areas potentially picking up a quick 1 to locally 3 inches of rain. Rainfall of that magnitude would likely result in a localized flash flooding given the high soil moisture from recent heavy rains. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation.
