At 825 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and other poor drainage areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Lombard, Addison, Woodridge, Glen Ellyn, Melrose Park, Maywood, Brookfield, Franklin Park, Hinsdale, Westchester, Lemont, La Grange, Burr Ridge, Oak Brook and Elmwood Park. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may already be occurring. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 822 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen, with locally higher totals over 3 inches in southeast DuPage County. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Trails threatened at Green Valley Forest Preserve near Woodridge. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:40 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 18.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon to a crest of 20.3 feet this afternoon.
