The National Weather Service in Lincoln has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... Southwestern Clay County in south central Illinois... * Until 500 PM CDT. * At 158 PM CDT, emergency management reported flooding continuing and showers and thunderstorms continuing to produce heavy rain across the warned area. Between 4 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Flora, Xenia and Flora Municipal Airport. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
