area along Riverside Drive and Shorewood Drive.

- At 9:00 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 10.0 feet.
- Forecast...Flood stage may be reached late tomorrow evening.
- Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

For the following areas...

Nearshore Waters from Winthrop Harbor to Wilmette Harbor...
Open Waters from Winthrop Harbor to Wilmette Harbor out to Mid
Lake...

At 1010 PM CDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 26 nm northwest of St. Joseph Light to 21 nm northeast
of Harrison-Dever Crib to Wilmette Harbor, moving southeast at 35
knots.

HAZARD...Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots and small hail.

SOURCE...Buoy.

IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
suddenly higher waves.

Strong thunderstorms will remain over mainly open waters.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for northeastern
Illinois...and the adjacent waters of Lake Michigan.

Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.

Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 9.5 feet, Fox River Drive threatened in East Dundee.
Boathouses threatened along the river in Cary.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:30 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 9.4 feet.
- Forecast...Due to rainfall tonight and Wednesday, the river
is expected to rise above flood stage late tonight and remain
in flood for several days.
- Flood stage is 9.5 feet.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas,
Boone, Central Cook, De Kalb, DuPage, Eastern Will, Kane, Kendall,
Lake IL, McHenry, Northern Cook, Northern Will, Ogle, Southern
Cook, Southern Will and Winnebago and northwest Indiana, including
the following area, Lake IN.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Roads and streets may
be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- An area of thunderstorms with rain rates up to one to two
inches per hour is expected to move through the area this
evening through the overnight hours. Elevated soil moisture
due to recent rainfall is expected to increase the
susceptibility to flash flooding.

A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is
possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts.
