Northwestern DuPage County in northeastern Illinois... * WHEN...Until 415 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 211 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Elgin, Arlington Heights, Evanston, Schaumburg, Palatine, Skokie, Des Plaines, Mount Prospect, Hoffman Estates, Glenview, Buffalo Grove, Bartlett, Streamwood, Carol Stream, Hanover Park, Wheeling and Park Ridge. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Southern DuPage County in northeastern Illinois... Northwestern Will County in northeastern Illinois... * WHEN...Until 515 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 209 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Radar and observations indicate these storms are producing a quick 1 to 2 inches of rain in less than 45 minutes. This will likely result in minor flooding shortly after thunderstorms arrive. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected over the area.
