...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM CDT FOR NORTHEASTERN ROCK ISLAND...WHITESIDE...NORTHERN HENRY... SOUTHEASTERN CARROLL AND NORTHWESTERN BUREAU COUNTIES... At 706 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Hitt to near Johnson-Sauk Trail State Park, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include... Sterling, Rock Falls, Morrison, Geneseo, Colona, Fulton, Prophetstown, Erie, Garden Plain, Milledgeville, Fairhaven, Albany, Tampico, Lyndon, Chadwick, Hooppole, Cleveland, Coleta, Deer Grove, and East Clinton. This includes the following highways... Interstate 80 in Illinois between mile markers 6 and 9. Interstate 88 between mile markers 14 and 44. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 800 PM CDT for north central and northwestern Illinois...and east central Iowa. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas, Bureau, Carroll, Hancock, Henderson, Henry IL, Jo Daviess, McDonough, Mercer, Putnam, Rock Island, Stephenson, Warren and Whiteside, Iowa, including the following areas, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Des Moines, Dubuque, Henry IA, Jackson, Johnson, Jones, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott and Washington, and northeast Missouri, including the following area, Clark. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Recent rounds of heavy rain have resulted in saturated soils north of Interstate 80.
