At 416 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Montpelier, or 7 miles southeast of Durant, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could cause minor tree limb damage and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, Bettendorf, Muscatine, Durant, Eldridge, Milan, Wilton, Walcott, Blue Grass, Buffalo, Andalusia, Fruitland, Long Grove, Grandview, Reynolds, Eliza, Oak Grove, and Donahue. This includes the following highways... Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 279 and 297. Interstate 280 between mile markers 1 and 17. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside.
