* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following counties,
Cook, Grundy, Kankakee, La Salle, Livingston and Will and
northwest Indiana, including the following county, Lake IN.

* WHEN...Until 1000 AM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of ditches, viaducts and other low lying areas.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 157 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rainfall of
between 1 and 2 inches, and locally in excess of 3 inches has
occurred due to thunderstorms since last evening. Flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area.
- This areal flood warning replaces flash flood warnings and
advisories previously in effect.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chicago, Hammond, Gary, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Calumet
City, Chicago Heights, Roseland, East Chicago, Lansing, Oak
Forest, Harvey, New Lenox, Highland, Blue Island, Munster,
Dolton, Park Forest, Homewood and Matteson.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of northern and central Illinois and northwest
Indiana.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM CDT /11 AM EDT/ Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Roads and streets may be flooded. Area creeks and
streams are already elevated, increasing the risk of flooding due
to additional rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Recent rounds of heavy rainfall have left soils saturated and
stream and creek levels elevated across the area. Additional
rounds of heavy rainfall overnight may lead to rapid run-off
and an increased threat of flash flooding.

A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is
