At 210 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding ongoing from earlier heavy rainfall across the warned area. Between 2 and 5.5 inches of rain have fallen. While the heaviest rainfall has subsided, various roads and underpasses remain flooded. HAZARD...Flash flooding. SOURCE...Law enforcement. IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and other poor drainage areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Chicago, Downers Grove, Midway Airport, Chicago Lawn, Englewood, Bridgeport, South Shore, Burbank, Hinsdale, La Grange, Justice, Summit, Burr Ridge, Ashburn, Brighton Park, New City, Hyde Park, Westmont, Darien and Bridgeview. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may already be occurring. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. Extensive street flooding possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow moving showers and thunderstorms with torrential rainfall will produce locally very heavy rainfall today. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches or more will be possible on a localized basis.
