* At 549 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Jacksonville, Petersburg, Virginia, Winchester, Alexander, South
Jacksonville, Ashland, Meredosia, Bluff Springs, Pleasant Plains,
Greenview, Bluffs, Murrayville, Chandlerville, Woodson, Chapin,
Tallula, Arenzville, Manchester and Alsey.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* Until 630 PM CDT.

* At 547 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Chapin to Manchester to near Carrollton, moving
east at 55 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Severe thunderstorms will be near...
Jacksonville, South Jacksonville, and Woodson around 555 PM CDT.
Alexander and Franklin around 600 PM CDT.
Waverly around 605 PM CDT.

* At 540 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located over Alexander, or 11 miles east of Jacksonville,
moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree
damage is likely.
