* At 1019 AM CDT, broadcast media reported roads flooding with
standing water from thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the
warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. The
expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding
is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Broadcast media reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Springfield, Chatham, Auburn, Sherman, Rochester, Riverton,
Williamsville, Waverly, Divernon, Loami, Abraham Lincoln Capital
Airport, Illinois State Fairgrounds, Jerome, Southern View, Leland

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, southeast, and west
central Illinois, including the following counties, in central
Illinois, Christian, De Witt, Logan, Macon, Marshall, Mason,
McLean, Menard, Peoria, Piatt, Sangamon, Shelby, Stark, Tazewell
and Woodford. In east central Illinois, Champaign, Clark, Coles,
Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie and Vermilion. In southeast
Illinois, Clay, Crawford, Effingham, Jasper, Lawrence and
Richland. In west central Illinois, Cass, Fulton, Knox, Morgan,
Schuyler and Scott.

* WHEN...From 7 AM CDT this morning through 1 AM CDT tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

- Thunderstorms with heavy rains of 2 to 3 inches per hour will
be a threat as a weather system slowly moves into IL and
interacts with deep tropical moisture over central and
southeast IL today and evening.
