Northern Will County in northeastern Illinois... Northern Lake IN County in northwestern Indiana... * WHEN...Until 845 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas including on streets and in underpasses. Due to falling leaves, storm drains and ditches may be clogged increasing the risk of flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 551 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated torrential downpours moving into the Advisory area. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Chicago, Joliet, Hammond, Gary, Bolingbrook, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Romeoville, Plainfield, Calumet City, Merrillville, Chicago Heights, Roseland, East Chicago, Schererville, Hobart, Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey, Lockport and New Lenox. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas, Central Cook, De Kalb, DuPage, Eastern Will, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, La Salle, Lake IL, Lee, Northern Cook, Northern Will, Southern Cook and Southern Will and northwest Indiana, including the following area, Lake IN. * WHEN...Until 10 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Periods of soaking rain will continue through the afternoon and evening. Rainfall rates may reach 2 inches per hour in localized corridors.
