Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Peoria, Pekin, Galesburg, East Peoria, Morton, Canton, Washington, Bartonville, Creve Coeur, West Peoria, Abingdon, Knoxville, Marquette Heights, Farmington, Tremont, Elmwood, Bellevue, Mackinaw, Delavan and Cuba. This includes the following State Parks... Banner Marsh State Fish and Wildlife Area, Powerton Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area, Rice Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area, Spring Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area and Mackinaw River State Fish and Wildlife Area. This includes the following highways... Interstate 74 between mile markers 48 and 70...and between mile markers 73 and 108. Interstate 155 between mile markers 12 and 31. In east central Illinois, Champaign and Vermilion. In west central Illinois, Knox. * WHEN...Through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rainfall of 2 to 3 inches has occurred over a large area since Wednesday morning. As thunderstorms develop in northern Illinois and sink southward overnight, another 1 to 4 inches of rain is possible, with localized amounts in excess of 4 inches possible.
