...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Locally very dangerous travel conditions due to lake effect snow, including the potential for thundersnow capable of producing snowfall rates greater than 3 inches per hour possible. Localized storm total snowfall well in excess of 6 inches possible. * WHERE...Central Cook, Eastern Will, Northern Cook, and Southern Cook Counties. * WHEN...From late Sunday night through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Roads will become snow covered and travel extremely hazardous underneath the more intense snow bands. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong northerly winds will gust to around 35 mph at times, resulting in some blowing and drifting snow. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions. &&
