FOR SOUTHERN LAKE...NORTHERN DUPAGE AND NORTHERN COOK COUNTIES...

At 950 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from North Chicago to Rolling Meadows to Wayne, moving east
at 60 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Chicago, Elgin, Waukegan, Cicero, Arlington Heights, Evanston,
Schaumburg, Palatine, Skokie, Des Plaines, Berwyn, Mount Prospect,
Hoffman Estates, Oak Park, Glenview, Elmhurst, Lombard, Buffalo
Grove, Bartlett, Ohare Airport, Streamwood, Carol Stream, Hanover
Park, Wheeling, and Park Ridge.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for northeastern
Illinois.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

Prepare immediately for damaging winds and deadly cloud to ground
lightning. Seek shelter inside a well-built structure. Stay away from
windows.

Open Waters from Winthrop Harbor to Wilmette Harbor out to Mid
Lake...

At 936 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts
were located along a line extending from 24 nm southeast of Wind Pt.
to 9 nm east of Waukegan Harbor to 12 nm north of Ohare Airport,
moving east at 45 knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts in excess of 50 knots.

SOURCE...Radar and surface observations.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural
damage in high winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly
higher waves.

Locations impacted include...
Winthrop Harbor and Waukegan Harbor.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for northeastern
Illinois...and the adjacent waters of Lake Michigan.

Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.

Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas,
Boone, Central Cook, De Kalb, DuPage, Eastern Will, Kane, Kendall,
Lake IL, McHenry, Northern Cook, Northern Will, Ogle, Southern
Cook, Southern Will and Winnebago and northwest Indiana, including
the following area, Lake IN.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Roads and streets may
be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- An area of thunderstorms with rain rates up to one to two
inches per hour is expected to move through the area this
evening through the overnight hours. Elevated soil moisture
due to recent rainfall is expected to increase the
susceptibility to flash flooding.

A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is
possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts.
Flash flooding is a dangerous situation. Persons with interests

latest forecasts and be prepared to take action should flooding
develop.
