...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST MONDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills of 15 to 20 below zero, and as low as 25 below zero in east central Illinois. * WHERE...Much of central Illinois north of I-70. * WHEN...Until 6 AM CST Monday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...By daybreak, wind chills in areas west of Springfield and Peoria should show modest improvement. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Keep pets indoors as much as possible. ...BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW POSSIBLE IN CENTRAL IL LATE TONIGHT AND MONDAY... South to southwest winds will increase late tonight mainly after 4 am with gusts as high as 25 to 30 mph on Monday morning into early Monday afternoon. This could develop blowing and drifting snow of the fresh snow pack, especially on east-west oriented roadways along with sudden reduced visibilities to less than a mile. Untreated roadways may become snow covered and slippery again on Monday. The winds should diminish by late Monday afternoon reducing the blowing and drifting snow risks.
