* At 1010 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing both
tornadoes and extensive straight line wind damage were located near
Yorkville, moving east at 55 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree
damage is likely.

Aurora, Joliet, Naperville, Bolingbrook, Wheaton, Downers Grove,
Lombard, Romeoville, Plainfield, Woodridge, Oswego, Batavia,
Lockport, New Lenox, Homer Glen, Mokena, Yorkville, Hinsdale,
Lemont, Plano, Burr Ridge, Oak Brook, Westmont, Lisle, and Darien.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 AM CDT
FOR KANE AND MCHENRY COUNTIES...

At 1002 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Genoa to near Maple Park to near Sandwich,
moving east at 55 mph. This line of storms has a history of
producing wind damage.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile
homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Locations impacted include...
Aurora, Elgin, Bartlett, Crystal Lake, Carpentersville, St. Charles,
Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, West Chicago, McHenry, Batavia,
Woodstock, Huntley, Geneva, Campton Hills, Harvard, Island Lake,
Marengo, South Elgin, Montgomery, Cary, North Aurora, Sugar Grove,
Pingree Grove, and Gilberts.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

* IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
Roads and streets may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 959 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
a line of intense thunderstorms with rainfall rates of 1 to 2
inches per hour moving into the area. Localized flooding of
roadways and poor drainage areas will occur slightly after the
onset of rainfall.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Aurora, Elgin, Carpentersville, St. Charles, Oswego, Algonquin,
Batavia, Huntley, Geneva, Yorkville, Morris, Channahon, Campton
Hills, Minooka and Plano.
