...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 AM CST MONDAY... * WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected, before quickly changing over to snow this afternoon and evening. Total snow accumulations 1 to 3 inches north of Highway 30 and an inch or less to the south. Strong west to northwest winds gusting up to 45 to 55 mph may lead to significant blowing snow in open and rural areas, and to sudden reductions in visibility. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Illinois and east central and northeast Iowa. * WHEN...From 3 PM this afternoon to 9 AM CST Monday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. Strong gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong cold front passing through this afternoon and evening will lead to a rapid drop in temperatures from the 40s into the teens which could result in a flash freeze leading to icy roads. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury. &&

For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 to 55 mph expected. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Illinois and east central and northeast Iowa. * WHEN...For the Dense Fog Advisory, until noon CST Sunday. For the Wind Advisory, from 2 PM Sunday to 6 PM CST Monday. * IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects.
