Washington County in southeastern Iowa... * Until 615 AM CDT. * At 1216 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Iowa City, Muscatine, Washington, Tipton, Marengo, West Branch, Sigourney, Columbus Junction, Durant, Coralville, North Liberty, West Liberty, Williamsburg, Wilton, Kalona, Tiffin, Wellman, Lone Tree and University Heights. This includes the following highways... Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 205 and 277. Interstate 380 between mile markers 1 and 7. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM CDT SUNDAY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Illinois, including the following counties, Carroll, Jo Daviess, Mercer, Rock Island, Stephenson and Whiteside and Iowa, including the following counties, Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Jackson, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott and Washington. * WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Widespread showers and storms are expected to develop again this evening and last into Sunday. These storms will be capable of rainfall rates between 1 to 2 inches per hour.
