...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CDT THIS MORNING... ...HIGH WIND WARNING HAS EXPIRED... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills from 20 to 30 below. * WHERE...Portions of western and northern Iowa. * WHEN...Until 10 AM CDT this morning. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The strongest winds and wind gusts have ended. The wind will continue to be gusty from the northwest with gusts up to around 45 MPH for a few more hours before decreasing further by midday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Winds gusting as high as 55-60 mph. * WHERE...All of central Iowa. * WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult. Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
