...NEAR WHITEOUT CONDITIONS... HAZARDS...Burst of snow accompanied by winds of up to 50 MPH which can rapidly reduce visibility to less than one mile. LOCATION AND MOVEMENT...At 826 AM CST, bands of heavy snow with wind gusts up to 50 mph was along a line extending from 9 miles northwest of Denison to 3 miles south of Holmes Lake Park and moving east at 65 MPH. THIS SQUALL WILL BE NEAR... Omaha, Papillion, Ralston, Gretna, Boys Town, Millard, La Vista, Missouri Valley, Ashland, and Logan around 830 AM CST. Council Bluffs, Bellevue, Carter Lake, Louisville, Elmwood, Crescent, Palmyra, Earling, Cedar Creek, and Panama around 835 AM CST. Offutt AFB, Weeping Water, Underwood, Neola, Persia, Defiance, and Council Bluffs Airport around 840 AM CST. Harlan, Plattsmouth, Shelby, Minden, Murray, Irwin, and Avoca around 845 AM CST. Glenwood, Avoca, Treynor, Pacific Junction, Union, Nehawka, Dunbar, and Beaver Lake around 850 AM CST. Oakland, Walnut, Silver City, and Hancock around 855 AM CST. Nebraska City, Malvern, Tabor, Carson, Macedonia, and Henderson around 900 AM CST. Sidney, Randolph, and Hastings around 905 AM CST. This includes the following highways... Interstate 29 between mile markers 1 and 125. Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 1 and 48. Interstate 80 in Nebraska between mile markers 382 and 454. SAFETY INFO... Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this squall. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads may lead to accidents. A rapid drop in temperature may cause black ice to form on roadways. Black ice is nearly impossible to see and roadways may appear only wet. Please use extreme caution, especially on bridges, overpasses and around curves.
