...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Much of central Iowa.

* WHEN...Through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more
heavy rain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Flooding is currently occurring in a few areas. Though rain has
mostly come to an end, rivers may continue to rise throughout the
day. Poor drainage and low lying areas may experience ponding.

Significant rises are expected or ongoing on many rivers and
streams, which may exceed flood stage. Of most concern include
but are not limited to portions of the following river basins...
South Skunk from Ames downstream, Des Moines from Des Moines
downstream, Raccoon downstream of U.S. Hwy 30, as well as the
Middle, South and Grand.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL FRIDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Middle River near Indianola, or from Clanton Creek near
Spring Hill to the Des Moines River.

* WHEN...Until Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 24.0 feet, Water reaches the south shoulder of Hwy G24
and affects numerous county gravel roads in the area.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 5:15 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 23.0 feet, and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this
morning to a crest of 24.1 feet this evening. It will then fall
below flood stage late tonight.
- Flood stage is 23.0 feet.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...North River near Norwalk Hwy R57, or from the
Madison-Warren County line to the Des Moines River.

* WHEN...From this evening to Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Water is over Iowa 28 immediately south of
Norwalk and threatens several rural gravel roads.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 5:15 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 18.1 feet, and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late
this evening to a crest of 22.4 feet just after midnight tonight.
It will then fall below flood stage early Saturday morning.
- Flood stage is 22.0 feet.

Center Street dam to Runnells.

* WHEN...From Friday morning to late Saturday night.

* IMPACTS...At 24.0 feet, The bike trail is closed east of Water St.
Water affects portions of other bike trails.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 6:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 17.9 feet, and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
tomorrow morning to a crest of 24.8 feet tomorrow evening. It
will then fall below flood stage Saturday evening.
- Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
