...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 AM CDT THIS MORNING FOR EASTERN MUSCATINE, SOUTHWESTERN SCOTT, CENTRAL LOUISA, NORTHWESTERN MERCER AND SOUTHWESTERN ROCK ISLAND COUNTIES... At 628 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen in the hardest hit areas. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Davenport, Rock Island, Muscatine, Milan, Blue Grass, Buffalo, Andalusia, Fruitland, Grandview, Reynolds, Eliza, Oak Grove, Illinois City, Fairport, Montpelier, Hamlet, Taylor Ridge, Edgington, Loud Thunder Forest Preserve and Shady Creek Campground. This includes Interstate 280 between mile markers 2 and 14. Law enforcement has reported flash flooding in portions of Muscatine impacting some roads. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. && FLASH FLOOD...OBSERVED

At 620 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen in the hardest hit areas. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Davenport, Durant, Eldridge, Wilton, Walcott, Long Grove, Donahue, Stockton, Maysville, New Liberty, Plainview, Sunbury, Davenport Municipal Airport and Moscow. ...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flash Flooding and river flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas, Carroll, Hancock, Henderson, Henry IL, Jo Daviess, Mercer, Rock Island, Stephenson, Warren and Whiteside, Iowa, including the following areas, Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Des Moines, Dubuque, Henry IA, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren and Washington, and northeast Missouri, including the following areas, Clark and Scotland. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Repeated rounds of thunderstorms are expected through the period. Rainfall rates between 1 to 3 inches per hour are possible with the strongest storms and may lead to flash flooding.
