...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Iowa, including
the following counties, in north central Iowa, Floyd and Mitchell.
In northeast Iowa, Allamakee, Chickasaw, Howard and Winneshiek.

* WHEN...Until 600 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations. Law enforcement reports that many roads
remain closed in the warned area.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 325 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported slow moving
thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the warned
area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Decorah, Charles City, Waukon, Cresco, New Hampton, Calmar,
Elma, Lawler, Spillville, Fort Atkinson, Floyd, Ridgeway,
Ionia, Protivin, Jerico, Chickasaw, Alta Vista, North
Washington, Colwell and Bassett.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT TO EARLY WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Cedar River at Charles City.

* WHEN...From late tonight to early Wednesday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Bracket Street begins to flood and is
closed.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 2:00 PM CDT Monday the stage was 6.0 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
just after midnight tonight to a crest of 13.5 feet early
tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early
Wednesday morning.
- Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
13.7 feet on 03/19/1986.

MORNING...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...The Winnebago River at Mason City, or from Beaver Creek
near Fertile to the Shell Rock River near Rockford.

* WHEN...From this afternoon to early Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 12.0 feet, Widespread flooding occurs along the
river. Some backwater effects are possible along Willow Creek
between downtown Mason City and the confluence with the Winnebago
river.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 10:45 AM CDT Monday the stage was 9.6 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
this afternoon to a crest of 11.9 feet early tomorrow
afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Thursday
evening.
- Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
