...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northeast, south
central, southeast, southwest, and west central Iowa, including the
following counties, in central Iowa, Boone, Dallas, Grundy,
Hamilton, Hardin, Jasper, Marshall, Polk, Poweshiek, Story, Tama
and Webster. In north central Iowa, Butler, Franklin, Humboldt and
Wright. In northeast Iowa, Black Hawk and Bremer. In south central
Iowa, Appanoose, Clarke, Decatur, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion,
Monroe, Ringgold, Union, Warren and Wayne. In southeast Iowa, Davis
and Wapello. In southwest Iowa, Adair, Adams, Cass and Taylor. In
west central Iowa, Audubon, Calhoun, Carroll, Crawford, Greene,
Guthrie and Sac.

* WHEN...Through late Thursday night.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more
heavy rain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A prolonged period of moderate to heavy rain is forecast through
Thursday evening. It will be falling on already saturated soils.
Rainfall totals will range from 2 to 4 inches in a southwest to
northeast oriented band across central Iowa, with locally higher
amounts likely. This rainfall may lead to flash flooding. Poor
drainage and low lying areas may experience ponding.

Significant rises are expected on many rivers and streams, which
may exceed flood stage. Some larger river basins of most concern
include the South Skunk River basin from Ames downstream, the Des
Moines River basin Des Moines downstream, the Raccoon River
downstream of U.S. Hwy 30, as well as the North, Middle, South,
Nishnabotna, Grand and Chariton River basins.

* WHEN...From Thursday afternoon to late Sunday night.

* IMPACTS...At 17.2 feet, Water affects portions of Fleur Dr.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:47 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 7.7 feet, and rising.
- Forecast...The river will rise to 11.9 feet tomorrow morning. It
will rise above flood stage early tomorrow afternoon, and crest
around 17.5 feet early Friday morning. It will then fall below
flood stage Sunday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 12.0 feet.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Raccoon River at Des Moines IA 28, or from Walnut Woods

* WHEN...From late Thursday night to Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 36.0 feet, Water affects Blue Heron Lake at Raccoon
River Park.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:46 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 25.8 feet, and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early
Friday morning to a crest of 36 to 36.5 feet Friday morning. It
will then fall below flood stage late Friday morning.
- Flood stage is 36.0 feet.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Raccoon River at Van Meter Hwy R16, or from the North and
South Raccoon Rivers to Walnut Woods State Park.

* WHEN...From Thursday afternoon to Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Water affects R Ave just north of the
river.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:47 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 7.5 feet, and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early
tomorrow afternoon to a crest of around 19.5 to 20 feet tomorrow
evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Friday
morning.
- Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
