...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS
EVENING...
...COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...For north facing shores of Maui, surf of 18 to 22 feet,
slowly decreasing during the afternoon. For west facing shores
of the Big Island, surf of 7 to 10 feet, slowly decreasing later
today. Additionally, a combination of higher than predicted
tides and elevated surf will produce nuisance coastal flooding,
mainly during peak high tides in the early morning hours between
midnight and sunrise.

* WHERE...North facing shores of Maui and west facing shores of
the Big Island.

* WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 6 PM HST this evening.
For the Coastal Flood Statement, through Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents
will make swimming dangerous. Flooding of beaches that are
normally dry, minor coastal erosion, and saltwater inundation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Avoid driving through flooded roadways. If you are forced to
drive through salt water, be sure to rinse your vehicle with
fresh water. Move electronics, vehicles or other valuables to
higher ground. Monitor vessels to ensure mooring lines don't get
too tight and watch out for overwash around boat ramps. Secure
canoes or other watercraft stowed on beaches.

Heed all advice from ocean safety officials. When in doubt, don't
go out.
