...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 AM HST THIS MORNING FOR THE ISLAND OF MOLOKAI IN MAUI COUNTY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall. * WHERE...The island of Molokai in Maui County. * WHEN...Until 945 AM HST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 642 AM HST, radar indicated areas of heavy rain moving over the island from the southwest. Rain was falling at a rate of 0.5 to 2 inches per hour. Additional bands of heavy rain are expected at times through the day today. - This advisory includes the entire island of Molokai. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. A Flood Watch is also in effect for the state of Hawaii through Saturday afternoon. && This advisory may need to be extended beyond 945 AM HST if flooding; persists.

A Gale Watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to 47 knots has significantly increased but the specific timing and/or location is still uncertain. It is intended to provide additional lead time for mariners who may wish to consider altering their plans. &&

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Kahoolawe. * WHEN...Through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Considerable flash flooding is possible as a large and powerful kona storm northwest of the state draws deep tropical moisture across the islands. Persistent bands of heavy rain and thunderstorms may produce intense rainfall rates, leading to rapid rises in streams and flooding of roads and low lying areas. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. &&

Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Strong winds may lead to property damage.
