The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... The island of Kauai in Kauai County * Until 1130 AM HST. * At 814 AM HST, Local Law enforcement reports that the Hanalei Bridge is still closed due to Hanalei River flood water inundation. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches are expected through late this morning. As a result, the flash flood warning has been extended. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by locally moderate to heavy rain. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Kapaa, Princeville, Kilauea, Hanalei, North Fork Wailua Trails, Wainiha, Alakai Swamp Trails, Haena, Wailua Homesteads, Na Pali State Park, Moloaa and Kokee State Park. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. && FLASH FLOOD...OBSERVED

Water over roadways. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 702 AM HST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated light to moderate rain over the island of Kauai. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly within the advisory area. Heavier rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Lihue, Kapaa, Kalaheo, Kekaha, Hanapepe, Lawai, Omao, Waimea, Koloa, Poipu, Kokee State Park and Wailua Homesteads. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
