...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 AM HST TUESDAY FOR THE ISLAND OF HAWAII IN HAWAII COUNTY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall. * WHERE...The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County. * WHEN...Until 130 AM HST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 921 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over northern and eastern slopes from Upolu Point to Mountain Home to South Cape. Rain was falling at a rate of 0.5 to 1 inches per hour. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Kapaau, Honokaa, Volcano, Glenwood, Mountain View, Hawaiian Acres, Keaau, Papaikou, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Pepeekeo, Honomu, Orchidlands Estates, Hakalau, Ninole, Laupahoehoe, Wood Valley and Pahoa. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don't drown. && This advisory may need to be extended beyond 130 AM HST if flooding; persists.
