...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible for windward and southeast Big Island. * WHERE...The Big Island. * WHEN...Through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Tropical Storm Moke is forecast to bring periods of heavy rain to the Big Island through Monday afternoon. Rainfall totals of 5 to 10 inches, locally up to 15 inches, are possible over the windward and southeast slopes of the Big Island. It will not take a significant amount of rain to cause flash flooding due to saturated grounds from recent heavy rain. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. &&

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...East-northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected. * WHERE...Portions of Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and the Big Island. Strongest sustained winds will occur over mountain ridges...gaps...and where winds blow downslope from higher terrain. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST this evening. * IMPACTS...Winds this strong can tear off shingles, knock down tree branches, blow away tents and awnings and make it difficult to steer, especially for drivers of high profile vehicles. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Watch out for falling tree branches when walking or driving. Make sure tents and awnings are secure or take them down. Be prepared for power outages. Secure trash cans, lawn furniture, and other loose outdoor objects that can be easily blown around by strong winds. &&
