The island of Oahu in Honolulu County * Until 500 PM HST. * At 149 PM HST, emergency management reported heavy rain and flooding over the north shore of Oahu. Radar indicated rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour within some of the heavier showers moving in from the west. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Emergency management. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Waialua, Haleiwa, Schofield Barracks, Wahiawa, Wheeler Field, Mililani, Waianae, Hauula, Laie, Nanakuli, Kahuku, Punaluu, Helemano Housing, Whitmore Village, Mokuleia, Waimea Valley, Waimea Bay, Pupukea, Sunset Beach and Dillingham Field. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Low pressure northwest of the islands will draw deep tropical moisture northward across the state, bringing the potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms capable of producing flash flooding.
