* Flash Flood Warning for...
The island of Kauai in Kauai County

* Until 745 PM HST.

* At 444 PM HST, radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy
rain falling over the north shore of Kauai. Rain was falling at a
rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour. Sharp rises have been observed at
the Hanalei River gauge. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
closures possible in some areas. Landslides are
possible in steep terrain.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Kekaha, Princeville, Kilauea, Alakai Swamp Trails, Kokee State
Park, Na Pali State Park, Wainiha, Haena, North Fork Wailua
Trails, Waimea, Hanalei, Polihale, Hanapepe, Mana, Barking Sands,
Waimea Canyon State Park, Pakala Village, Kaumakani, Eleele and
Kalihiwai.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.

ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

* WHERE...The island of Kauai in Kauai County.

* WHEN...Until 715 PM HST.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in
streams. River or stream flows are elevated.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 405 PM HST, radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain over Kauai. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 3
inches per hour. Area stream flows are elevated, especially
at the Wainiha River gauge on the north shore of Kauai.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

...GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM HST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...South winds 25 to 35 kt and seas 10 to 15 feet.

* WHERE...Kauai Northwest Waters, Kauai Windward Waters, Kauai
Leeward Waters, Kauai Channel, Oahu Windward Waters and Oahu
Leeward Waters.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM HST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could
capsize or damage vessels.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...all Hawaiian Islands.

* WHEN...Through Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of
streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along
with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff.
Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Low pressure northwest of the islands will draw deep tropical
moisture northward across the state, bringing the potential
for heavy rain and thunderstorms capable of producing flash
flooding.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
