THE ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...The island of Kauai in Kauai County.

* WHEN...Until 830 AM HST.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in
streams. River or stream flows are elevated.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 425 AM HST, radar and automated rain gauges indicated a
band of slow moving heavy rain falling across the eastern
slopes of Kauai this morning. Rain was falling at a rate of 1
to 2 inches per hour.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
the entire island of Kauai.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

A Flood Watch is also in effect for the island of Kauai today until
6 PM HST.

&&

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 830 AM HST if flooding;
persists.

Coastal Flood Statement
Issued: 1:01 PM May. 15, 2026 – National Weather Service
...COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH

* WHAT...Isolated minor coastal flooding expected.

* WHERE...Vulnerable low-lying coastal roadways, docks, boat ramps
and other coastal infrastructure of all Hawaiian Islands.

* WHEN...During the afternoon hours this weekend into early next

coastal erosion, and saltwater inundation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Avoid driving through flooded roadways. If you are forced to
drive through salt water, be sure to rinse your vehicle with

Flood Watch
Issued: 11:35 AM May. 15, 2026 – National Weather Service
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and Maui.

* WHEN...Through this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be
closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas
may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to
rapid runoff.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- An unseasonably cold upper level low moving into the Hawaiian
Islands from the north will produce periods of heavy showers
across the island chain today. The center of the low will
settle in over Kauai around noon HST, the low will then
weaken and drift slowly eastward tonight. Unstable conditions
within this upper low will likely produce periods of
thunderstorms and heavy showers, potentially leading to flash
flooding conditions in some areas. This Flood Watch may need
to be extended into the overnight hours for some counties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
