...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 AM HST THIS MORNING FOR THE ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...The island of Kauai in Kauai County. * WHEN...Until 830 AM HST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 425 AM HST, radar and automated rain gauges indicated a band of slow moving heavy rain falling across the eastern slopes of Kauai this morning. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... the entire island of Kauai. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. A Flood Watch is also in effect for the island of Kauai today until 6 PM HST. && This advisory may need to be extended beyond 830 AM HST if flooding; persists.

...COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Isolated minor coastal flooding expected. * WHERE...Vulnerable low-lying coastal roadways, docks, boat ramps and other coastal infrastructure of all Hawaiian Islands. * WHEN...During the afternoon hours this weekend into early next week. * IMPACTS...Flooding of beaches that are normally dry, minor coastal erosion, and saltwater inundation. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Avoid driving through flooded roadways. If you are forced to drive through salt water, be sure to rinse your vehicle with fresh water. Move electronics, vehicles or other valuables to higher ground. Monitor vessels to ensure mooring lines don't get too tight and watch out for overwash around boat ramps. * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and Maui. * WHEN...Through this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - An unseasonably cold upper level low moving into the Hawaiian Islands from the north will produce periods of heavy showers across the island chain today. The center of the low will settle in over Kauai around noon HST, the low will then weaken and drift slowly eastward tonight. Unstable conditions within this upper low will likely produce periods of thunderstorms and heavy showers, potentially leading to flash flooding conditions in some areas. This Flood Watch may need to be extended into the overnight hours for some counties. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
