The island of Oahu in Honolulu County * Until 200 PM HST. * At 1104 AM HST, emergency management reported heavy rain and flooding over the north shore of Oahu, particularly near Waialua. Radar indicated rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour within some of the heavier showers. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Emergency management. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Waialua, Haleiwa, Schofield Barracks, Wahiawa, Wheeler Field, Mililani, Waianae, Hauula, Laie, Nanakuli, Kahuku, Punaluu, Helemano Housing, Whitmore Village, Mokuleia, Waimea Valley, Waimea Bay, Pupukea, Sunset Beach and Dillingham Field. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 AM HST THIS MORNING FOR THE ISLAND OF OAHU IN HONOLULU COUNTY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall. * WHERE...The island of Oahu in Honolulu County. * WHEN...Until 1130 AM HST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 830 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain moving into Oahu's north shore and leeward side from the west. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour within the heavier showers. Moderate to heavy rain is expected to spread across the remaining portions of the island in the next few hours as the band of heavy showers moves eastward. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... The island of Oahu. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. && This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1130 AM HST if flooding; persists.

Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Low pressure northwest of the islands will draw deep tropical moisture northward across the state, bringing the potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms capable of producing flash flooding.
