The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening. * AFFECTED AREA...Rabun and Habersham Counties in northeast Georgia. * TIMING...From noon to 8 PM EDT Sunday. * WINDS...North 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * HUMIDITY...20 to 25 percent. * FUEL MOISTURE...Likely falling below 8 percent, possibly as low as 6 percent in the warmest part of the afternoon. * IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Breezy wind gusts from 15 to 20 mph can also be expected this afternoon. Low relative humidity, breezy winds, very low fuel moisture, and ongoing drought will allow any fires that develop to spread quickly. Refer to your local burn permitting authority regarding whether you may burn outdoors.
