Coastal waters from Fernandina Beach to St. Augustine FL out 20 NM... Waters from Altamaha Sound GA to Fernandina Beach FL from 20 to 60 NM... Waters from Fernandina Beach to St. Augustine FL from 20 to 60 NM... * Until 315 PM EDT. * At 214 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from near Amelia City to near Guana River State Park, moving east at 10 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to 40 knots. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include... Dorothy Louise Barge, Casablanca Reef, Atlantic Beach, Mayport, Nassau Sound Approach Buoy 6a, Anna Reef, Vilano Beach, Amelia City, South Ponte Vedra Beach, Palm Valley, Jacksonville Beach, Talbot Island, Buoy Kby, Saint Johns Lighted Buoy, Dungeness, Saint Marys Entrance Buoy 16, Whittakers Snapper Hole Reef, Guana River State Park, and Saint Augustine. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are expected. If your vessel is caught offshore, immediately secure for heavy weather. Ensure all crew members are wearing USCG approved Type I life jackets and nonessential crew are below decks. Deploy jack lines and harnesses if available. Check life saving equipment, including batteries on handheld radios, for readiness. Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. SOUTHEASTERN PIERCE...BRANTLEY...SOUTHEASTERN WARE AND CHARLTON COUNTIES THROUGH 300 PM EDT... At 157 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Race Pond to near St. George. Movement was southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph, excessive cloud-to-ground lightning, and minor flooding due to heavy rainfall. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Excessive cloud-to-ground lightning is occurring. Minor flooding due to heavy rainfall is possible. Locations impacted include... Jacksonville, St. Marys, Kingsland, Fernandina Beach, Hilliard, Folkston, Woodbine, Callahan, Nahunta, and Jacksonville International Arpt. For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 112 expected. * WHERE...Coastal Camden, Coastal Glynn, Inland Camden, and Inland Glynn Counties. * WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, until 7 PM EDT this evening. For the Extreme Heat Warning, from 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
