Special Weather Statement
Issued: 3:58 PM Apr. 13, 2026 – National Weather Service
...INCREASED FIRE DANGER ACROSS NORTHEAST GEORGIA CONTINUES UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... Relative humidity values are on track to fall to near 30 percent this afternoon, with winds of up to 15 mph, and occasionally stronger gusts. The Georgia Forestry Commission indicated that fine fuel moisture in these areas is quite low, and recent observations showed fuel moisture as low as 7-10% and dropping. Given dry vegetation, ongoing drought, and favorable meteorological conditions, fires will be able to catch and spread rapidly. Refer to your local burn permitting authority regarding whether you may burn outdoors today. If you do burn, exercise extreme caution as fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
